Okpyeon: Hanja Popup Dictionary

Okpyeon does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal information. It has no servers, no analytics, and no accounts.

What the extension does with your data

When you highlight text on a page, or type a query into the extension's sidebar or the address bar, the text is passed to the extension's own local lookup code, matched against a dictionary bundled inside the extension, and rendered on screen. The text never leaves your computer. Lookups are not logged, saved, or sent anywhere.

Saved words

You can save dictionary entries to a list with folders. This list exists only because you build it: it holds the entries you choose to save, the folder names you create, and your display preferences. It is stored with chrome.storage.local on your own computer, is never transmitted anywhere, and is deleted when you remove the extension. Exporting the list writes a file to your computer and nothing else.

No network activity

The entire dictionary ships inside the extension package. Okpyeon makes no network requests of any kind and functions with no internet connection. The only file reads it performs are of its own bundled data files, using chrome.runtime.getURL.

Permissions and storage

The extension declares two Chrome permissions and no host permissions:

Nothing else is retained between sessions. Your lookup history is never recorded in the first place, and the extension uses no cookies and no localStorage.

What is never collected

Third parties

No data is sold or transferred to third parties, because no data is collected. Okpyeon contains no third-party code, trackers, or advertising.

Dictionary sources

The bundled dictionary was compiled ahead of release from English Wiktionary (via the kaikki.org machine-readable extracts) and the Unicode Unihan database. This happened during development. The published extension does not contact those sources, or any other, while running.

Changes

If a future version changes how data is handled, this policy will be updated before that version is published.
